On 16 July 2021, Nanga Awasum was walking on the streets of New York City when she had an encounter with the famous supermodel Gigi Hadid, although Nanga did not know about this at that time. Gigi Hadid was impressed by Nanga’s dress and clicked a photo of her and shared it on her Instagram with the captions “Shoutout to my NYC inspiration of the day: this queen. Was too drooling to get a pic of the front, but she was major.”

Nanga only found out about the photo and the Instagram post after a couple of strangers in Zara recognized her from Gigi’s Instagram and approached her. Only then did Nanga found out that she had become viral. Later, she tweeted “It’s the way @GiGiHadid would have changed my entire life if I was only facing the right way.”

And then, a perfect finish to the incredible saga, Gigi retweeted saying, “You were facing the right way exactly where you were headed. Sunshine! Sending biiiiig love Nanga !” And all that social media exposure made her not only famous among the fans but also earned her more and more gigs.
