Sunday Burquest Cause Of Death: Cancer

Sunday Burquest died on 18th April 2021 following a battle with esophageal and ovarian cancer.

Kennedy Burquest, Sunday’s daughter, confirmed the death. Via Instagram, she wrote— “To my unbelievably beautiful mama,
Thank you. Thank you for fighting as hard as you did for as long as you did. Thank you for being a best friend, a role model, a sister, and my mother all in one. Thank you for raising me to love Jesus, and show that love to others. That’s something you did so well.”

She then continued— “It breaks my heart to know you will never get to see me on my wedding day or be there when I have my first kid. But I know you’re watching over me. Although it hurts me so bad to watch you go, I’m so happy you are happy again. I’m happy you get to be with Jesus and see your dad. I’m happy you aren’t in pain anymore. I’m happy I got to have these past few months with you.”

Kennedy ended the statement, writing—  “I loved taking care of you. You’ll always be my favorite patient. I love you to heaven and back a million times. I know one day we will meet again. Until then, I’ll spend every minute missing you and trying to make you proud. Rest easy mom, I’ll see you soon 🤍”

Back in 2012, the doctors had diagnosed Sunday with breast cancer. After the diagnosis, she underwent five surgeries, eight rounds of chemotherapy, and 28 days of radiation.

Tributes Poured In

As the news about Sunday Burquest’s death became public, many took to social media and offered their condolences.

Jeff Probst, “Survivor” host, paid tribute to Sunday by writing— “Sunday Burquest had one of the brightest smiles of any person to ever play Survivor. She radiated kindness and understanding to anyone lucky enough to be in her presence. She seemed to understand better than most, that life is for living, so say yes to life whenever possible. My condolences go out to her family and friends during this difficult time.”

Sunday’s co-star, Zeke Smith also wrote— “I will love you and remember you for all my days, Darling Sunday. Your kindness and selflessness have changed me and so many others. I miss you. Pouring out a Diet Coke in your honor. #RestInPower”

We were never a bother to him – he truly enjoyed spending time with us and it showed.”

Also, Sunday was a devout Christian. She even considered her mother as her hero. In her own words— “My inspiration comes from my relationship with the Lord. My faith has shaped my attitude in life and has given me the ability to be genuinely happy. Aside from my faith, my mom is my hero. She is the toughest lady. I get my tenacity and “never quit” attitude from her. I’ve watched her succeed despite her difficult upbringing, dealing with me and my brothers as teenagers, and enduring a bone-marrow transplant. No matter what happens, she keeps getting back up and going again!”

Sunday attended Osseo Senior High from 1984 and 1989. She then studied at Rhema Bible Training Center and Maranatha Community College.

Sunday Burquest was survived by her husband, Jeff Burquest, and their 3 kids: daughter Kennedy and sons Carter, Tucker, and Brock.

On 17th July 1992, Sunday married Jeff. The couple had celebrated their 28th wedding anniversary in the Summer of 2020.

Jeff is a graduate of Elk River Senior High School and Bethel University. As of 2021, he was working at “Town and Country Carpet and Flooring”. Previously, he worked at “Living Word Christian Center”.

Talking about their kids, Brock Burquest is an Elementary Teacher at Morris Area School District. He is a University of Minnesota, Morris alumni. Also, Brock got married in 2020.

Meanwhile, Tucker Burquest is a Resident Advisor at the University of Minnesota Duluth. Furthermore, he studied at the University of Minnesota Duluth.
